‘My daughter took a brilliant writing course for DofE – great writing tasks and fantastic, in depth and helpful feedback from Jacqueline. Highly recommended.’

Duke of Edinburgh Creative Writing Course parent:
‘I just wanted to say thanks for the amazing feedback for [my daughter’s] tasks – I was not expecting anything so detailed and thoughtful. Much appreciated! She’s enjoying the work, I think it’s a great thing for her to do.’

I am an Assessor for the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze, Silver and Gold Skills section and offer Creative Writing Correspondence Courses.

This distance-learning course gives the opportunity for students to write imaginatively and then receive encouraging feedback.

Thanks so much for everything, it’s been a really challenging course and I think has really pushed [her] to create some great work! You have given some brilliant, thoughtful feedback. We’re really grateful.

Sample session

The first six weeks comprise extracts to read, perhaps with a short skill activity, and then a linked creative writing prompt with written feedback notes after each session. After the sixth session, I do a recorded feedback to review the writing so far and to look at next steps. The following six weeks then focus on improving writing style, but otherwise follow a similar format.

Each session should take an hour to complete.

All options are excellent support for the English GCSEs and previous students have seen their grades improve, as well as their enjoyment of writing and creative thought. I have also had students return to do the course for their Silver D of E as well – the course changes so it can be done more than once.

12 correspondence sessions and individual feedback each week: package price of £149

Thank you!
