Would your young person like to learn English in a creative way? I offer personalised Creative Writing in a Foreign Language courses.
When I learnt French, I quickly realised that textbooks and lists of vocabulary were not helping me at all; so I used to work through novels, slowly, with a dictionary; listen to French songs; watch French movies, and read French poetry. French burst into flame in my mind, and I not only learnt it, I learnt to love it, word by glorious word.
I also remember one French evening class many years later when I needed a refresher in French, and out tutor asked us to hand in a short story in French. I was thrilled as I could use my English skills and my French ones, all at once. I enjoyed that assignment so much, especially as I was a lawyer at the time and had little time to write creatively.
I hope to replicate that experience in my Foreign Language courses which include copy work of wonderful writing, but most importantly, time for young people’s own creative writing in English.
I will give detailed feedback on the English and also their style of writing.
They will quickly build up a good vocabulary, a strong writing style and a confidence with the English Language that comes from surprising themselves each week!
This is a correspondence only course where I will give written tasks and activities, and they send me their written work, either typed or handwritten, for detailed feedback.
